The culvert tunnels through a sizeable enbankment at the head of the valley, and carries the River Seven under the railway.

The tunel must have been built some time before 1865 when the line opened, but is still in very good condition

The railway as mentioned above from Rosedale can be traced over the open moor to the top of the Ingleby Incline. If anyone is interested the Incline can be included in a nice circular walk, taking in Bank Foot and the old sidings area at Battersby. I did this walk last year and thoroughly enjoyed it!
