Right next to the crossroads is a modern recreation of a mine tub.

This installation was designed by Groundwork North East(Liz Allen – Senior Landscape Architect) in partnership with Lingdale Liftoff, Lingdale Primary School and Lingdale United Reformed Church. The iron tub and freeze were fabricated by local blacksmith James Godbold(egton). The scheme was also funded by the Neighbourhood Renewal Fund through the Redcar and Cleveland Partnership.
I gather that these artifacts were the work of the local village community group – Lingdale Lift Off – with the help of Lockwood Parish Council and Redcar and Cleveland BC. I’m sorry but i have no knowledge of the model makers, although the apprentice training centre at TTE have helped out wiith similar schmes in the past
David is correct, when I search for Lingdale Lift Off, theres a mention of the new items.

Also worth a mention (if it hasn’t been mentioned alredy and i missed it) is the little statue in mmmorial to the miners of Boosbeck, erected on the church gounds park opposite the road junction leading to Margrove Park, and which was the brainchild of youngsters from Lockwood Primary School
It is good that these public artworks are being installed to provide a link between the past and present. Without the mining a lot of these villages would not exist today.
