Bishopton castle was built in the 12th century by the Conyers family
It was (and still is) surrounded by marshy ground as part of its defences.

Bishopton Castle is fabulous. So unassuming and disregarded, but so wonderfully old and special.
I live a couple of villages over from this site. I had no idea it was there!
