This quern used for grinding flour, sits near the entrance to St. Thomas’ Church Glaisdale
Unfortunately i’ve been unable to find any further information on where it came from or how old it is.
Hi Chris – With reference to your ‘Quern’ I am into family history and have corresponded with a possible distant relative (surname Robinson) – (nothing proved but looks likely we may have the same ancestor) from ‘Ainderby Quernhow’ in Yorkshire. I thought it was a misprint for ‘Greenhow’ but obviously not – thanks… Now I know what a ‘quern’ was… 🙂
