Ceramic tiles were placed on properties owned by the Stockton and Darlington Railway in the late 1850s, early 1860s.
The F-Line ran to Barnard Castle and F10 is Barnard Castle crossing.
At the Kidderminster Railway Museum, in the John Marshall photographic collection, Photo No. 071704 shows S&DR ceramic tile, K15 on the wall of the cottage at Bank Foot, at the foot of the former Stanhope and Tyne Railway, Nanny Mayor’s Incline GR NZ062462. The picture was taken on 7th August 1964. My brother and I also feature on the picture.
I presume that neither the cottage nor its incredibly rare ceramic tile are still in existence.
There is a thread on these plaques on the LNER forum site, which readers may find of interest.
