The ’Bolckow Niche’ was at West Lodge near the park gates from 1898 and moved to its current location some time around 2004. It was donated by the Evening Gazettes founder, Hugh Gilzean Reid.

So that was where the pub name ‘Gilzeans’ came from. In a way it is good that the history of the town is being carried on this way.
I wonder what he would think of the paper today ? i shudder to think……….
