There’s a photo of inside the Winter Gardens in the book “The Book of Middlesbrough” by Norman Moorsom. Here’s what he says about the Winter Gardens…”Social clubs and working mens clubs have contributed much to the life of the community over the years, one of the most interesting being the Winter Gardens, established in 1907 by Lady Bell. Situated in Dundas Street, it provided comfort, refreshment and recreation for the worker and his wife and friends. The site of this popular venue is now occupied by the Dundas arcade shopping centre.”
