Gateposts to the now demolished Kirkleatham Hall. The stable block is still intact and mysteriously undeveloped or renovated in decades.

Petrified Forest, Redcar
Visible on occasion on the beach behind Leos (or this Vertical Pier more recently), although extremely dependent on the amount of sand on the beach and the tides. I spotted these tree trunks in January although I know theres a lot more under there if conditions are right.
Henry Pease Statue in Saltburn
Victorian Industrialist Henry Pease effectively created Saltburn, after having a vision of it on the cliff. Seated on the hillside he had seen, in a sort of prophetic vision, on the edge of the cliff before him, a town arise and the quiet unfrequented glen turned into a lovely garden.
The Quaker families influence on the railway and mines in the area is immense.

Kirkleatham Hall Wall converted into WW2 Gun Nest
Kirkleatham was surrounded by defensive positions during the second world war, this ornamental tower from the now demolished Kirkleatham Hall was converted into a gun emplacement as part of the ring of nine pillboxes, four roadblocks, three anti-craft guns, minefields and three miles of anti-tank ditches.
Remains of South Gare Sail Bogie Tracks
Railway sleepers can be seen at a few points on the approach to South Gare, although they become much clearer after the gates next to the Coastal Battery, where the cars are not allowed.

23 Anti Tank Cubes S0010392, South Gare, Redcar
Impressive row of undamaged cubes blocking a gap which now sits in the hinterland between the Coatham Marsh and Tatasteel / SSI site.
Update : As of 2012 a pipeline has been run through this area, but as far as I can tell from a distance the cubes have been left intact.
Coastal Battery S0005918, South Gare, Redcar
Very prominent gun emplacement on the approach to the light house at South Gare, it would have housed a 6″ gun during WW2.
The gun here was never fired in anger.
Pillbox S0010165, South Gare, Redcar
This is one if the most obvious pillboxes in the area, sat in the middle of the beach and at high tides in the water.
As of January 2007 its virtually submerged in sand, last year it was completely uncovered and actually tipped over the other way, see this pic on Freds Photos.
I’m sure it will become uncovered again, its a real display of natural forces at work seeing this thing constantly change.
Pillbox S0010181, South Gare, Redcar
Nothing much left other that a series of holes now visible in the sea wall, opposite the pilots house.
There is a suggestion of an entrance from above in the concrete
